HOW TO BUILD SOME ENGLISH TENSES

 

Simple Present:

S+ inf.+ Compl. Example: We speak english

(3 rd sing person: S + [inf. + - s /- es ] + Compl. Example: She speak s english

Special cases : Verbs “ Be ”, “Can”, “Must”, “May”...

Examples: I am; he is…/ I can.., she can../ He may, We may… / It must…

 

Simple Past:

Regular verbs: S + [inf. + - d /- ed ] + Compl. Example: He walk ed 20 Km

Irregular verbs: S + form + Compl. Example: they wrote a novel

 

Simple Future : (same formula for all verbs, except may, can & must )

S + will + inf. + compl. Example: It will happen tomorrow

Continuous Present : (same formula for all verbs, except may, can & must )

S + be in present + [ Inf. + -ing] Example : I am watching TV

Continuous Past : (Same formula for all verbs, except may, can & must )

S + be in past + [Inf. + -ing ] Example: I was watching TV

Inmediate Future : (also called Future of intention )

(Same formula for all verbs, except may, can & must )

S + be in present + going to + inf. Example: He is going to study French

American Variation with “ gonna ” He's gonna study French (very familiar)
